THE ROUND THE CLOCK EDUCATIONAL CENTRE FACILITIES FOR SOCIALIZATION “THE ROCK” AND “THE RAINBOW”

Both facilities have been rendering their services since 2009 on the basis of the Act on Family Support and Foster Care. They specialize in care over children and young people with special developmental needs. Each facility can admit up to 14 children. Currently, our youngest foster child is 8 years old and our oldest foster child is 19 years old.

Foster children living in the facilities, like all other children, go to school, do their homework, have fun, eat, sleep and sometimes get ill.  As all children they also miss their parents and homes and experience dilemmas over their own future.

Their carers – tutors, teacher, psychologist, social worker and director – are called Aunts and Uncles. All of them teach foster children how to do housework on their own, they do homework together, go to parents’ evenings and medical appointments, buy clothes, textbooks and school accessories. The priority of our staff is ensuring that children have proper conditions for development (they organize educational classes and ensure access to specialist classes) as well as proper fulfilment of their schooling and learning obligation, organization of spare time and development of the children’s interests.
